Public Displays Of Affection

Affection for gardening that is.  It’s not hard to notice the city is in bloom.  There are pots, baskets and beds around every corner.  Living in the center of the city doesn’t mean it must be void of colorful blooms. On the contrary, look at the beautiful begonias hanging in the cool shade of its glass & steel neighbour. A mere car park becomes a garden oasis.

It’s a great display of community spirit.  I love that everyone interprets their container gardens in a different way.  Though there may be hundreds of choices for container flowers, the infinite combinations insure that each one is a unique work of art.

Garden displays aren’t limited to pots and baskets, look at the beautiful window displays at Holt Renfrew! It’s the perfect planting, no weeding or watering required.

So if you’re looking for inspiration, why not stroll around your own neighborhood and admire some of the seasons best displays of public affection.

A garden must combine the poetic and he mysterious with a feeling of serenity and joy.

Then again, this van from Merles in Edmonton is outrageously cheery, don’t you think?

    1. Hi, you would totally look cute driving a flower-power van. It’s fun trying to think of catchy titles, believe me, there’s lots of rejects too, HA (loved that gold fish vase, had me fooled for a minute.)

Talk nerdy to me………..
