Oh Yah, That’s A Keeper

Does this happen to you, you’re snooping around the Blog-a-sphere (that’s a word right?) and come across a post that reminds you of something really great?  Like, “Oh yah, I have a sewing machine” or “I love that vintage shop, I’ve always wanted to go to Napa”. It really gets me motivated.  So, while reading all about Lesley Carters’ bucket list in Bucket List Publications – 2012 Bucket List, I noticed number 19. Go Whale-watching.

I start thinking about our trip to Maui this past January.  It was our first visit and we just loved it. Do you have any favorite vacation destinations? Maui might just be mine.  One of the best things we did was go whale watching.  We actually loved it so much, we went twice on a six-day holiday. We choose Pacific Whale Foundation because of the advocacy they do.  I highly recommend the Rafting Whale Watch Ecotour . You’ll be close enough to the water to dangle your toes in and with a smaller group the opportunity for great pictures is a plus. Departing from Lahaina Harbour, the tour guide and captain made it especially fun.

At one stop, Mr Boomdeeadda had his feet dipped in the ocean (sadly my legs are too short), and looking down he calmly says to me “isn’t that a whale?”  He’s like that, very reserved. Not me. I yell “holy….there’s a whale right under our boat!”.  Even the captain was excited and he does this everyday, all day.  See, you must stay a certain distance away from the whales, but when parked, if they swim over to you, you’re golden. SMILE….Click!

Not every picture will be a great success, they go down as quickly as they came up.  But with any luck, you’ll get the odd one and say “oh yah, that’s a keeper”.

Note to self: MAKE a Bucket List, then add “go whale-watching again”.

Lucky me, I have a dedicated craft room and currently on the Cut File Team for Paige Taylor Evans. I mostly enjoy making 12x12 layouts and Mini Albums. Thanks so much for coming by 💛

    1. I know right? We could have never imagined the feeling of seeing these massive and passive beast at arms length. After the tour, I went back to our B&B and watched them thru the binoculars all afternoon…jump and blowing water…amazing. They come to that habour to give birth, so also had little ones. Highly recommended! Thanks for visiting.

    1. Hello, thanks for coming by. i love being in the water, on top of the water or just looking at the water. I guess that’s why I lived at a lake for 25 years. I truly wish we’d take care of the oceans and lakes better and change fishing practices. But on days like this, I think we were the good guys.

    1. Ahhh, that’s too funny, I never thought of that one at the time. It would have been a good zinger. I guess being so close to a whale left me speachless, and that rarely happens. Glad you stopped by, thanks again.

Talk nerdy to me………..
