A Day In May

There is a gentle beauty

someone I admire

a heart of gold, she makes me smile

a friend who all desire

She lives in California

a land where palm trees sway

we’ll meet there in her garden

come spring, one sunny day

Just like a garden fairy

who’s wand makes small things grow

She brightens life in every way

and makes the dull days glow

If I were a little birdie

with wings to fly away

I’d fly to California

and sing for her all day

I’ll chirp and tweet a happy song

the cat’s will all agree

“That birdie looks familiar,

it sounds like a northern Boomdee”

So, until the spring tulips peek,

from garden soil the sun they seek.

I’ll send this little gift her way,

I’ll dream of spring, a garden and May.

Lucky me, I have a dedicated craft room and currently on the Cut File Team for Paige Taylor Evans. I mostly enjoy making 12x12 layouts and Mini Albums. Thanks so much for coming by 💛

    1. ((( Betsy ))) you are so dear, thank you for your beautiful comment and reading way back too. You know, I really can’t imagine how I got so lucky to have Alys stumble along into my little blog-a-roonie….it’s just been a wonderful, beautiful thing. I can hardly believe only 2 months away. I will save a hug for you too xox

    1. ((( Alys ))) I’m so glad it’s coming true xoK. Although I wouldn’t mind writing a new poem about June (or whenever) I’m so happy I won’t have to. ❤ ❤

    1. Thanks so much for that Sunshine. I have way more time since we’re renting in a condo while we look for a house. It’s like a little holiday really. Groceries near by, no yard. I don’t even need to shovel but went out anyways to get some exercise just for fun. Never thought I’d say that, not after the crazy Snow of 2010.

  2. Reblogged this on gardeningnirvana and commented:
I used to marvel at friendships forged by letter-writing, the back and forth sharing of ideals and dreams, along with the minutia of life. Now I understand. I’ve found a kindred spirit and a new friend through the day to day act of writing and sharing in the blogosphere. I received this beautiful gift in the mail this week, from a writer I affectionately called Boomdee. It took my breath away. Here are her lovely words and pictures. With gratitude to you, dear Boomdee:

  3. I am struggling to find the words to convey the joy you’ve bestowed on me. The beautifully wrapped package was a treasure start to finish. Seeing your address on the box, imaging it traveling across countries, and then finally arriving on my doorstep. I was like a child on Christmas day. I paused before opening, but finally couldn’t contain me self. The day stopped for that package. All that before I even opened it!

There are so many loving details, which you’ve captured beautifully, above. You’ve incorporated my love of nature, flowers, color, paper, fairies and trinkets. I’m in awe of your talent, and your generosity. Thank you, Boomdee, from the bottom of my heart, for the gift of your friendship, your blog, this poem and the treasures now sitting on my desk. ♥♥♥

    1. I’m speachless, thanks Alys. I just wanted to share something extra special, since you’ve been such a great inspiration and friend. I’m glad you enjoyed it, as I really had fun planning, shopping and then finally creating it with you in mind. You are truly one of a kind, lucky me. ❤ xo k/p/b
