Music Monday – Week 7

It’s been a good long while since we had a Boomdeeadda Music Monday.   It’s where I post an new Artist I fancy with hopes you’ll pass along someone you’re listening to. If you’re catching up, here’s who we’ve listened to so far:

I decided I needed a Week 7 to introduce ‘The Lumineers‘. This indy-rock threesome, ‘heart-on-your-sleeve’  style have earned them devote fans. I can’t get enough of them.  I love the sing along, feel good spirit of their music. They’re currently touring the US and early in 2013 they’ll be touring overseas. Maybe you’re lucky enough to live in one of the stops? I sure wish they were coming here.

Their bio describes them as “Born out of sorrow, powered by passion, ripened by hard work, The Lumineers have found their sound when the world needs it most.” I couldn’t agree more.

“It’s better to feel pain, than never feel at all. The opposite of love’s indifference”

Stubborn Love by The Lumineers, take a listen:

    1. Thanks for following the links Alys. It is a tragic story. I can’t imagine what it takes to recover. One foot in front of the other I suppose. I’m sure that’s made their music and them stronger. Life seems to pulse thru their delivery in such an infectious way, I’m so happy for them. I’ve probably listened to it 50 times now. When I think about the words “the opposite of love is indifference”, I think of someone I once knew and loved and then it all makes sense.

      1. I can tell the music and lyrics really resonate with you. I’m sorry anyone could ever hurt your heart.

I believe a lot of great art, music and literature comes from someone’s pain. The deep feelings rise up and make the work profound. It’s easy to spot the bubble gum lyrics, but the stand outs, like this, stay with us. I’m so glad you are getting our fill.

        1. Awww thanks ((Alys)) No one is immune from the pain of a broken heart, I suppose if it never happens, then you would be the exception and maybe living a life that is too closed. That being said, it was a long long time ago, I still struggle sometimes to understand the motives behind the lies, but there’s that ‘indifference’. We can’t help how other people choose to be, we can only control our reaction. The best vengeance is to live a happy life full of love and friendships. I’ve been very lucky.

        2. Well said and so true. When you are in the thick of it, though, and feeling vulnerable because you love someone, it’s painful and hard. But yes, better to have loved and lost…though really no loss at all. We’re two lucky women now, aren’t we?

    1. Thanks Sheryl, you’re right, they do have a bit of country folk appeal. I like music that lifts me up and takes me on a journey with a great message and melody. Thanks for the listen. 🙂

Talk nerdy to me………..
