I Wish You Love

I was walking thru the forest

on one cold December night,

when a white light fell upon me,

I looked down it was so bright.

When I looked towards the heavens,

thru the bright lit canopy,

With snowflakes on my glasses now,

 I could hardly see.

“I heard your wish from far away,

did you know that I was listening?”

“I came here in my sleigh,

over roof-tops, snow was glistening.”

Santa held his big round tummy

and said, “you really look surprised!”

“You haven’t changed since ’63’,

there’s still star dust in your eyes.”

Had we met when I was little?

Back in 1963?

Could that really have been Santa,

leaving a bike beneath my tree?

Just then it was apparent,

we keep Christmas in our hearts.

Its a feeling you must nurture,

not pile in shopping carts.

So I closed my eyes and made my wish,

his reindeer were getting ready.

Santa laughed and smiled down,

over tree tops he held them steady.

With a wink and a twinkle, Santa waved his glove.

He caught my wish in one hand,

my wish for warm Christmas love

 to sprinkle thru out the land.

You might see Santa flying by,

a streak up in the air.

My wish for love he’ll be sprinkling down,

there’ll be glitter in your hair.
