It actually worked out pretty well for Easter Bunny tracking. I spotted these first. Not Easter Bunny tracks!

April is usually a turning point here but this winter hung on for dear life and would not give up. Nice and green now. We’ve actually had weird snow storms in June, but it melts right away, LOL. Be prepared for anything round here. Thanks for your message 😀

I love bunnies boomdee and they are all over my neighborhood. There is at least one family living under my shed in the backyard.

Lucky you to have bunnies in the backyard. I’ve been loving them all winter and then on May 26th I took a bunch of photo’s in the garden here and the very next day they’d disappears. All of them. What do you make of that?

I don’t want to point fingers but I think the city may have done something dastardly. The odd Coyote in the river valley wouldn’t have hunted them all. No kidding, one day there were five bunnies in the park, now I’ve seen one. It’s a young one, very small, maybe from this year. I’m really sad.

Hello dear Kathryn and beautiful crew! Yes, all that wet snow melted quickly. I guess it’s been pretty nice for about 5 days in a row, HA alert the press! Today we ate el-fresco in the sun on the balcony. Love it! 40 sounds brutal, especially if you have to work outside. Do you ever set up a swimming pool for all the furry friends to cool off in? I just want to cash in those hugs so badly but will enjoy the virtual ones to the moon and back xoxoxo

Hey Boomie! Isn’t the weather interesting? Well, that is not the word I would use to describe ours but I agree with you that you just roll with it, what else can you do? One day it snows, the next it is sunny & warm. We’re in the middle of lots of rainy weather here now, as it is doing wonders for the grass, but now it’s too wet to do anything outside. Hi Val, spring I think has finally arrived. I walked to the market this morning and home and it was so beautiful and sunny. Should be 18C or 68F which is glorious for us. Nothing at all growing since it’s early but maybe in 3 weeks or so. Albertans hit the garden nursery on the May Long weekend. Thanks for your message. I am glad to hear that you are finally out of the snow, and it’s about time! I have so many garden projects to do/start that it’s overwhelming, not to mention that I am still trying to recover from being sick. At least I got my stepping stones all finished heading into the garden area, and I am now working on getting the grass seed to germinate and get the backyard back into shape and looking good. I am going to work on making a new trellis for our cucumbers this year, as I did not like the one we used last year. I got all the supplies, but waiting for all the rain to stop so I can head out to the garden! I am just glad we have seen the last of the snow, I hope! Huggies!

Why does the opening paragraph of this blog post hurtle my early morning mind straight to Weird Al Yankovic?! Oh I SEE now… Weird on the top line and Alberta on the second. Good to see that my brain can still manage to coherently string a couple of words together to make sense of them. Not quite certifiable (yet…)
I am intrigued by the Rare Northern Boomdee…it appears to have a normal gait right up until it sets foot onto a footpath and then it suddenly appears to be hopping? Sort of like an Easter bunny but with size 8 feet?
The Easter bunny is, I have it on good authority, most sadly dyslexic. He most probably read your card as “Bloomingdale’s” and your Faberge egg is currently languishing in some shop window draped in costume jewellery…bugger 😦
I see him too! He has a lot in common with the pope, aside from the fact that Easter is the payload month. That long period of sitting still has NOTHING to do with fear by the way and everything to do with “where the HECK did I park that damned Eggmobile!” (In the popes case it’s Popemobile but now I am just quibbling for effect…)
I hope Mr E. Bunny didn’t end up in a Boomdee stew? I know that you Canadians eat some pretty strange things…
Our autumn is progressing nicely. Lots of wind and rain and the barometer keeps telling me that it is going to stay like this for the foreseeable future. Good O says me! I just witnessed a very unusual site. It’s 5.24am and I just got myself another (LUXURY) big mug (bucket) of tea as Stevie-boy drew the short straw (rock wins EVERY time…) and has to do the fortnightly trek into the city to shop so I get a morning off walking the dogs and thus I can afford more liquid input as I won’t have to dart into the shrubs to relieve myself due to my middle aged mother of three status. Always a good thing! Anyhoo…back to my unusual autumnal observance…
A mosquito, one of those tiny biting insectivorous critters, just flew into my peripheral vision. I don’t worry much about them as for some reason they are not inclined to bite me. I think, as a vegan, I slip in under their “good tucker”radar as something rated between “cardboard” and “turnips” neither of which is tasty to a mosquito so I can calmly sit and observe them wending their weavy ways across my field of vision. This one just made a bee-line for my mug of tea! He/she (can’t be sexist here) kept hovering as close to the hot surface of the drink as mosquitoely possible. Did it want a drink? A swim? A modicum of warmth? I would like to think that my mug of tea just warmed the cockles of that little mosquitoes heart (much like the little match girl with a MUCH better outcome) and that he/she is now fortified for the long journey into our bedroom where they will attack poor Stevie-boy the mosquito magnet with renewed vigour. Ah the joys of autumn 🙂 . Lol, that mosquito is back! Looks like Stevie-boy has all of his tasty bits tucked in under the doona 😉

I really can’t wait for the book version of your ample life. Pen to paper and 1000000 pages later, you’ll be rich! LOL If I had to guess, the Rare Northern Boomdee probably wears a size 7 but was wearing big rubber boots to avoid wet feet…..but who really knows. They’re very elusive 😀
You’ve uttered the word ‘mosquito’ and I’ve just had a thought about our summer. Their the bane of our evenings here. Not too bad downtown because of all the concrete, but really bad at the lake where we use to live. You wouldn’t dare go out at night around any grassy area’s without spray. They’re wicked. They love the cool, moist grass. After a rain especially, torture. We had a netted dining tent we’d sometimes use. But in the country, up North here, it’s almost too cold to sit out at night without a fire. Even if it’s warm during the day. Once the sun is gone, it generally cools off. We had A/C because the entire front of our house was glass windows. Without A/C, you couldn’t get any sleep and be dead tired for work. We’re not used to heat up hear.
I keep forgetting you’re going into Autumn. I think for North Americans, it would be confusing to have Christmas in the summer. Of course, you might think the same about us celebrating in the winter.
Hope the garden cover is still doing well with all your wind and rain, no one needs extra work. Especially not when there’s tea to drink, knitting or pets to enjoy instead. Cheers my dear. Hope your weekend is shaping up nicely 😀

I forgot it was Saturday today and thought it was Thursday…my autumnal inner clock might need a bit of an adjustment methinks. We Aussies love the look of a white Christmas and it would be lovely to have a hot meal at Christmas time but then flip it on it’s head and we get to go to the beach, have a fantastic Christmas picnic, we eat a lot of seafood over here and you can shuffle the kids outside to play cricket or football while you are laying on the floor groaning and too full to open your top button of your trousers…gotta have some benefits to being upside down 😉

These snowy bunny hoppers will be turning brown now. They’re only white in the winter. There is always one or two bouncing around here or through the park behind us. Petals and Blossum hang on their perch and chirp like mad. Then the tails get swooshing back and forth. So I always know when to go to the window 😀 Hope all is well with you and the family. Thank goodness for your spring blossoms, they sure do re-energize you after winter. Ours have not yet made an appearance, but that’s rather normal for here. I do enjoy visiting everyone else’s spring gardens though and it get’s me all charged up with anticipation. It’s certainly ok by me if you need to sigh over the weather. We’ve been doing plenty of that ourselves. It’s all relative to what you’re accustom to. Even in sunny California, 45 F can seem cold for them while we’d appreciate it about now.

Absolutely! When I was back in Australia it got up to 46 degrees Celsius!!! Insane! When it went down to 30, I thought “Hmm, a bit chilly… need a cardigan.” Definitely relative! Swedes start ripping their clothes off when it 5 degrees Celsius 😀

LOL, I think a lot of Canadians do too. I wore my crazy home sewn dress out to the market one day. I had on a jean jacket on my converse sneakers. The morning was 7 C and drizzly but by 3pm it was snowing because the temps dropped to 0 C….brrrrrr. Other shoppers had on a winter jacket, LOL
46 C is banana’s and I would surely parish or melt.

What a great post my new friend! Spring still isn’t here in Georgia – sigh. I’m still calling this ‘in between’ season Sprinter. It’s 1/2 spring some times and 1/2 winter some times. Oh we’ve had some doozies here in the Tri-State area. There was one that I only saw photos of, from my mom in Buffalo (near the American side of the falls). It happened a few years ago and it was named the October Surprise. The photos of the house I grew up in, I didn’t even recognize my street.

Luckily all that snow has melted and only in 4 days. So now low lying area’s are on high water watch…..it really never ends. Are things that crazy in Belgium? I have this picture in my head of Mr Bowie watching his catnip from on top of the garden table while you sip on a nice Espresso and read your news paper. Oh you do make me smile. This is a wee hodge-podge of stuff I had laying around. I came upon that bunny and did my best to film the little waskle, but he just wouldn’t stay still. I had to edit out a fair bit due to my shaky and out of focus filming. Then the odd snow flake would land on my screen. It’s on my Smartphone, so the quality wasn’t top notch. I thought, oh well, it’s just for giggles.
The Bunnies do tend to propagate and grow big downtown. Maybe they eat junk food? I’m not sure, but they are big. I think he might have done me a favour not leaving chocolates, but the coffee basket would’ve been well appreciated. Next time I see him go by, I tell him you and your ‘widdle words’ are on it…LOL.

Ahhh. My Boomdee treat for the week. You tickle me to no end. My favorite part…(rare Northern Boomdee tracks). Sorry about the bunny missing you. Looks like he wanted Capt.Kirk to beam him up too. Away from all that snow and somewhere there was a blade of grass to nibble on. Maybe he was afraid to end up in someones stew pot. You have really been hammered this year with the weather. We just get more rain; but I don’t have to shovel it. Lack of sunlight makes us all a bit weary. My son in S. Calif has had 80-90 degrees all winter. No thanks to that either. The wind keeps taking over his trees. It’s something everywhere. I remember snow bringing down our smaller canopy on May 31 while my (ex) husband was away. We would get snow into June in the mountains but not like you get. Hang in there. Victoria BC? It’s so lovely there. You have to do Butchart Gardens and have High tea there and then go to the butterfly garden. High tea there is better than at the hotel. I so want to take my daughter there. It’s been YEARS! Thanks for putting some sunshine in my day. 🙂 Hugs.

You know, you make a good point. There’s something to be glad about no matter where you live, even when it comes to weather. Some places like California and deep Texas are having droughts. You get too much rain and we get the snow. If we were rich, we could just check the forecast and go wherever it was the nicest. The weather would be at our heals, but we would always be one step ahead in the Boomdee-Air Luxury Jet liner.
We do have Butchart Gardens on the list and thank you for the tip about the butterfly garden. We’ll love that. So all our snow is gone and it’s now raining buckets, spring is ditzy…LOL. Big hugs to you my dear xoxoxo

You are sooooo entertaining Boomdeeadda! The Captain Kirk line sent me into gales of laughter but the video undid me. Bahahaha! My son moved to Edmonton in January he is finding the weather quite something…while we here on The Island ( we pretentiously call it that) enjoy our blooms.
The magnolia tree is in full splendor and the peas, carrots, beets, kale and lettuce have all been planted in the veggie plot. Maybe you and your bunny will want to hop on over here.

Dearest Boomdee, this is a visual treat for those of us who don’t see much snow. I know you must be completely and thoroughly over it but, goodness, it’s soooo pretty! I’d be one of those crazy souls at the playground in the middle of it all! I’ll bet you are happy to be seeing signs of Spring all around. Canadians are indeed hardy souls – I see the country’s huge spirit every time the Commonwealth Games roll around and in the amazing artists Canada has produced. Helllllllooooo sweet Dani! Do you see many bunnies in your neck of the World? Certainly not white ones I would guess, they’d stand out a bit much, ha. I think it’d be amazing if this was a giant white kangaroo. Now THAT’D be a movie!! LOL. I’d have to amplify the sound effects and make the cartoon boing way BOING-E-ER. Now I’m sure that’s a word. Maybe even Walt Disney has uttered it once or twice.
If you lived in a country with snow for 7 months a year, you WOULD be one of those people at the playground or out with Jet for walks. It’s been a long one for sure. We didn’t even have it as bad as other Canadians to the East. For some Canadians, this winter has been the coldest EVER since records have been kept. Can you imagine? If you ever want a little movie of Orlando, just take a few short movies with your digital camera. When you download them to your computer, they’ll be .MP3 files. You can email them to me and I’ll make them into a YouTube for you. Or, if you’d rather, there are lot’s of places on the Web for you to upload your video or photo’s too and make a little movie. Today, we’re getting rain in the city. Just west of the city is a Heavy Rainfall Warning. LOL, the weather is seldom ‘just right’ is it? I welcome the rain to wash all the dust away. I went and looked at the link and that seems quite fun ……. and it also appears that some time soon I am going to get a phone upgrade [yes me – to a very clever phone upgrade 🙂 ] due to the fact that my old cell’s battery appears to be on the way out and apparently it is just as expensive to replace the battery as it is to get a new phone! [Go figure!] But this all means I will get something that takes half decent videos and then – look out world 🙂
It also means that many more days will be chewed up on this search – I may never get to my give-away!
I am happy to hear that you have rain – and are welcoming it – that must be a sign that temperatures are rising for you, else it would be snow, yes?

You’re spot on with the weather synopsis. In fact, I was sweating bullets this afternoon when it was pouring rain but the dashboard in the car read only 1 C. I hope we can stay on the positive side of 0 C. By Sat. we should be at 5 C for an overnight temp. Fingers Crossed xo

Hooray for tropical!!! Clowie, are you too hot with all that cuddly fur? Our snow has all melted but it’s still coolish. Today was 18 C. The blizzard was Friday, it was -6 C. Tomorrow we’re forecast for a massive downpour of rain. Every day is totally different in spring 😀

Thank you for your kind message and your visit. We’re now warming up and today was 19 C. But heavy rains are forecasted. Spring is a bit of a roller coaster, but we’re happy it may actually be here. Such a long long winter 😀
