I’ve had an extraordinary ten days in Alberta. In typical holiday fashion, the time passed in a flash. It was full of highs and more highs. So it goes when you’re spending time with a treasured friend.

I met Boomdee via WordPress, a wonderful forum for finding your people. There are days when I still can’t believe it.

Yet here we are, making the most of our time together, while making do with the time apart.

Boomdee lives in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She hosted me at her home in Edmonton. We also took a two-day excursion to the mountains, the world-famous Canadian Rockies, about a five-hour drive from Edmonton. Mr. B, as he’s affectionately known, drove the ten-hour round trip. The drive was breathtaking.

    1. Thank you Roth Poetry for your message. My friend, Alys was actually born in Canada but hadn’t been to the Canadian Rockies. So we were excited to get her up there. We shall take her to Banff on her next visit. Canadian beauty shouldn’t be rushed, tee-hee. Wow, climbing Whistler! I’ve been, but as a tourist. There’s so many beautiful places to visit and double fun in good company. Cheers!

    1. Thank you Clowie! We’re a 4.5 hour drive from the Rockies, but the prairies can be pretty too. I love the rolling grassy hills in your view though, so so gorgeous! ❤

    1. Good Morning Lavinia! Thank you so much. There’s lot’s to love about living in Alberta. We’re very fortunate to enjoy some travel abroad but I’m always happy to come home sweet home. I’m sure you feel the same arriving home too. Though our time together flew by so fast, we had a great visit. Alys is such good company, you couldn’t ask for a better friend. xo B

    1. Good Morning Marlene-a-go-go, we’re always looking forward to our next visit, yes, that’s a given. Thanks for coming along. Its It’ll be ions before Alys returns to Edmonton, but we didn’t get to half the stuff on my list. Not even the coffee shop around the corner which is totally cute. There’s always something on the list and places we want to go. xo K

    1. I know right? It’s kind of mind blowing how paths cross. Are they meant too? Is it just co-incidence? I remember seeing a movie called ‘Sliding Doors’ with Gwenyth Paltrow. A very interesting concept where two scenario’s of her life play out side by side. On one hand, she rushes to catch a train and *just* misses it. On the other hand, she *just* makes it and arrives home early. Both scenario’s play out very different. What a difference a mere moment in time can make. I had what Oprah called her ‘a-huh’ moments and sometimes think about how my life might be different if I’d never started a blog. I guess, happily, I’ll never know xo K

  1. Oh Boomdee, you, Alys and Mr. B certainly “did it up” during her visit – what a gorgeous part of the world you live in and how absolutely fabulous that you had so much fun sharing it with Alys! I think in our lives we meet and fully connect with like souls who will stay in our hearts forever and you and Alys are just like that. It’s a real gift to have a friend you can totally be relaxed around and enjoy even the quiet moments. Thanks for sharing this fun vacation with us!

    1. You’re so right Pam xo I have a handful of lifelong friendships and I know Alys is one of them. People move on, for what ever reason. New job, new relationships, change of pace, the grass is greener (LOL), there’s a hundred ways from Sunday to lose contact. But there’s the rare bird that you just love to be around, can’t wait to be around, miss when they’re not around and for me that’s my BFF Alys. I hope we can meet you up next time we’re in your area, I think you’re really special and I’m so happy we’ve connected. Thanks for being here and especially for being so very lovely xo Love and Hugs, Boomdee aka Kelly

    1. If I rock, you crush it 😀 Thanks for all your kind messages Cindy, you totally warm my heart. I guess you know first hand how the Canadian Rockies can take your breath away. Next time you’re up this way, give me a heads up and we can hang. Not out on glass walkways, but you know, hang! HA! x K
