As They Say In The Boom-Room

Welcome back!

I’m on a roll, ha! Two posts in two weeks 😀

For crafty friends out there, I mentioned a walk-thru of the Boom-Room and have managed a short video.  Make some popcorn, turn down the lights and……. “roll ’em”……….

Do you have a happy place?

Maybe a place you are creative or read a great book?

Tell us about it ! We’d love to hear all about it 😀

As you can see, it’s really not a very big room. But I’ve managed to squeeze quite a lot in there.  My next project, get the closets organized.  So far, I’ve just got a vintage drop leaf table hidden in there.  I can open the closet doors, lift the leaf and ta-da……extra counter space.

Did that make you dizzy? LOL! It did me !

Organizing can do that to you 😀

Well now, It’s not ideal, but it’s functional.

Of course I was chomping at the bit to create, design, paint, glue or sew something pretty.  I chose Crate Paper’s ‘oh-so-cute’ Snow & Cocoa collection.

It’s actually the first design they’ve ever repeated. Talk about popular 😀  Of course, I fell under it’s spell. Here’s my take on it.

I cut the messy circular wreath on my Cameo.  If you don’t have one, I think it’d be easy to emulate by tracing a diner plate.

Brrrrr…….it’s not just the weather, it’s also my title 😀 I fussy-cut the letters from one of the papers. I’ve added little messages on the arrows too and used a couple of the fancy polaroid frames from the ephemera collection. Don’t forget to stamp the date on your design. I like to use a co-ordinating ink! There always should be a wee bit of splatter too. That’s a wrap as they say in the Boom-Room

Blogging has brought me friendship and love

from around the world.  I’ve really missed you all ❤

Why not visit my pals mentioned in the Video?!

Lucky me, I have a dedicated craft room and currently on the Cut File Team for Paige Taylor Evans. I mostly enjoy making 12x12 layouts and Mini Albums. Thanks so much for coming by 💛

  1. You create such joy and light. You title made me laugh out loud. Your boom-boom room has another, errrrr, meaning for certain people with dirty minds which absolutely does not include me….. or you. It reminds me of my so very sweet and young Mormon secretary from so many moons ago, who used the word hummer all the time in place of bummer. I had to explain to her this term had another meaning to certain unsavory sorts, not like me….. or you, of course. And I will never forget her look of combined horror and repelled curiosity. Laughing louder……..We have reconnected now on facebook and she is a very young grandmother with a beautiful, big family. I can’t even imagine what she would say if she read this!
Anyhoo, I love your boom-boom room, and must say you put it to very good use, and save more boom-boom for other rooms, which you’ll hopefully post about next!

    1. Well now! LOL !! Who knew that would sound saucey? 😀 You’re right, that would go right over my head. Hummer/Bummer !! LOL Things don’t always go well in the Boom Room and then the language can get a bit blue…..ie. for five cents!! or no! no! fudge! or worse. LOL Thanks for the morning smiles Cindy, I’m finishing off some Egg-Nog in my Latte this morning, not too shabby 😀 x K

    1. Perhaps you’re on to something there Leilani ! The secret sauce is made up primarily of the dreams of an 8 year old ! As a kid, I think everyone dreams of a fabulous bedroom. I actually shared a room with my younger brother until my dad made rooms in the basements for the boys. Once I had a room of my own, I think I was 12 maybe, I painted it super bright yellow. Dad said it was like living on the sun, LOL !
My decor preferences have mellowed but I still like it bright and cheery. Some things never change 😀 Thanks for joining the tour! xo Boomdee

  2. What a fantastic video of your charming Boom Room! I also love what you’ve done with the closet. How clever to leave the table in there for easy retrieval I love your colors, your style, the wonderful organization and the way you use vintage items like suitcases and typewriters to such wonderful affect. You’re the Bomb…I mean Boom. 😉

Thank you for the ping-back, and what a charming note to our dear friend Dani. xo

    1. Hey Honey ! I was about to send out an APB ! 😀 Thank you for all your love and cheer. I was in the Boom Room tonight making a layout. What I noticed is, now that I’m all organized I’m working harder at keeping it that way. Like putting everything away as I go rather than putting it on the floor behind me. So that’s a bonus. It’s fun to find small old stuff that works for organizing too. Little dishes, the suitcases and the mini 4 drawer unit all came from the antique mall. It’s not necessarily cheaper but adds more character (I think) to the room.
I think of Dani everytime I’m in the room because of the oh-so-cute crocheted banner she made and gifted to me. It’s hanging across the cubby shelf and makes me so happy. Dani also make a banner with snowflakes in the same colours. It’s up all year round across the window. Dani’s Blog isn’t up anymore so I couldn’t link to her. Once you make friends here, it’s hard not to know how she is, but I really hope she’s ok. xox ❤ k

    1. Hello hello dear Genevieve ❤ Your kind message completely hit me in the heart. Thank you for this and for joining my little tour. Walking and talking was too tricky for me, HA ! Purging and organizing is good to do once in a while 😀 I don't suppose you out grow any of your lovely frocks Cupcake, but I also recently got into my clothes closet and cleaned that out too. Funny thing, I had *a lot* of clothes that didn't fit and I never wore. Reality bit me in the butt and now it's all tidy too. 😀 Starting off 2018 with two projects off my list. Have a super duper weekend you two cuties xo Boomdee!

    1. Hey girl ! Thanks for touring and your message too xo Do you have IKEA out your way? Affordable and actually not ugley….win/win It’s not as hard as some say to put it together either. I actually made a whole kitchen once. When my ex abondaned a kitchen project in the late 80’s, I had few options. I saved a bit of money, bought what I needed, put it together and installed the lower cupboards. My Uncle came and installed the upper cupboards after I built them. Ta Da ! Girl Power 😀 x Boomdee

      1. Wow. That’s pretty fabulous. No wonder you love IEKA. I used them a lot in grad school and my early life for bookshelves and lamps. I still have one of their lamps, which I like a lot. But they’re crazy far out and crazy crowded here, so I’d really need something specific before I made the trek. If one of my floor lamps went out, I might go out there. One of my neighbors has an IKEA kitchen, though, which he installed himself and he likes it a lot. It has a nice clean look, like most of their stuff.

  3. Thank you for the tour, Boomdee! My cats would have way too much fun in there, especially the Three Sisters cats. Nothing escapes them.

Being at home is as good as it gets for me, for reading and creativity. 🙂

    1. Hello sweet Lavinia! Thanks so much for touring. I would love to have a kitty pawty if not for the fact that it’s be a furry scene. ha! I have had the odd kitty bounce up on my work space and nearly miss knocking into water or paint…..that’s how we roll her, LOL It’s wonderful to have our homes to enjoy, I feel so blessed. Big hug K

  4. Thanks for the tour, looks like you have everything you need to craft away! My happy place is Hungry Mother State Park – they have the best hiking trails, it’s only an hour away, and the trails are seldom crowded (well, I don’t go on weekends in the summer, so. . .). Wish I had some of your artistic talent, but I’m also happy with my hiking hobby.

    1. and thanks so much for coming on tour! I should have put chairs and such in my way and pretended to be ‘hiking’ through the craftroom 😀 bahahaha. Next time! Maybe I’ll get outside and hike to Starbucks….silly me! It’s awesome that you are so close to such beautiful hiking trails and have fun friends to go with. It wouldn’t even seem like excercise when your laughing and talking. I’d gladly trade some cup of artistic for a cup of your initiative and motivation to exercise! That’s inspiring 😀 Cheers x K

  5. It’s a lovely room. You have everything so well organised.

I love it when one of my bipeds decides to get creative in the kitchen. I keep an eye on things and help by keeping the floor spotless for them. They can be so messy and some of the things that get dropped are very tasty!

    1. LOL, what a super good helper you are Clowie 😀 Thanks for taking my tour! Your royal puffiness would probably be very cozy in my craftroom. You would take up half the spare room, ha! I have a giant pillow for the kitties in the hallway. They don’t mind, I have the door open and they’re happy just to see me. I guess they find me very irresistable, bahahahah xoK

    1. Thanks so much for touring Anne and for your kind message too. You know, sometimes it’s just night to be alone, and in the craftroom I can be but it’s not ‘lonely’. Do you ever feel that way?

I sometimes do love to hand stitch around my layouts, but this was done with a Sewing Machine (only for crafting) by We’R Memory Keepers called The Stitch Happy. Everyone was really excited about it when it came out this year because it can sew thicker threads. But unfortunately they’re not well made and sew very unevenly. You could never sew a garment with it. At least mine does sews, we had many that didn’t and they all had to go back to the wholesale guy. Poor guy, I don’t know what he worked at with American Crafts. They get horrible reviews on-line. I got my very early on because I worked at Urban. Well, you win some, you lose some. I still use it for the multiple colors of thicker thread I bought, LOL. Cheers!

      1. Ah, that explains why some of the stitching looks machine done, and some of it looks more hand sewn. And, yes, although I don’t have a special place for myself I do like to be alone in my kitchen/snug area in the evening. I can listen to music or fiddle about on the computer. Or do as I please. Alone but not lonely; definitely.

  6. Boom that is one wonderful ROOM! You have everything at your fingertips and organized nicely so you can craft your beautiful heart out whenever you want to. Love your newest creations too……precious! I know you will make a lot of people happy with your craftiness over the holidays – save some for home too. Teddy and I send you Holiday Hugs. We hung our “balloon” on our tree in Sammy’s honor yesterday…….

    Love, Pam

    1. Awwww, sweet Sammy ! I’m so happy you enjoy his balloon on your tree. Is Teddy enjoying the tree too? My kitties love sitting under the tree so much, I actually forgo the tree skirt and just put the basket under there instead. I’ve yet to hang ornaments, I like to wait till the novelty of it wears off with the kitties. I’m thinking I’ll do it tomorrow. Thanks so much for taking the tour. I usually bring in my portable speaker to play music and light a smelly candle I like. It’s even better in the evening when I can bring a glass of wine..hee-hee. Thank you for the Holiday Hugs ((( Pam ))) you are a sweet friend. Sending big, generous, warm hugs back xox K

  7. What a fun and well organized room. Hoping I can get there after the holiday. You inspire me. That little ditty with the closet did make me dizzy. 😉 I’m so happy you are getting to spend more time in your happy place now. I’ll be back in mine in the morning. I had forgotten about the Angel. Glad to see it’s survived. Maybe I’ll get organized and pretty soon. I just love what you have done with your room. Giant squishy hugs. MH

    1. Hello hello Marlene-a-go-go! I hope you get back to your room for lots of fun. Are you sewing? I was looking through some quilt sewing magezines today because I made a stop in a book store. I was thinking of you. It was really tempting because they’re all so cute, but I decided I have to finish some of my started projects first. So I’m not *that* organized, but working on it. Actually organizing is part of the fun too. I’ve always liked moving the furniture around. Our livingroom is pretty inflexable in this house though, not too much I can move. Maybe I need a new sofa? LOL zing! Solutions just pop up, snort. Have a happy craft day xo ❤ k

      1. I happen to love organizing as well. While my son was here, he moved all the furniture around and when he left, I moved it around some more, I could definitely use a new couch but that will be on the way back burner You have done such a splendid job on your Boom room. It makes me want to craft more.
